The Ore Mountains are Christmas country and Schwarzenberg is one of the most traditional centres. I have not (yet?) been there during Advent season, unfortunately - this is on my wish list. Reminders of this most festive part of the year can be spotted all year round in town, though. The Schwibbögen have already been described.

Schwarzenberg was the first town that erected a large outdoor pyramid (1930). The structure stays in its place at Unteres Tor all year round, covered with canvas.

The climax of the festive season happens on the Saturday before the third Advent Sunday: The miners parade. They assemble down in the valley and march up the street through Unteres Tor to the market square. You can see them en miniature in the frieze above the narrow street passage at Unteres Tor (photos 3-5).
