"BUCOVICE CHATEAU" Bucovice Things to Do Tip by balhannah
Bucovice Things to Do: 3 reviews and 12 photos
After viewing the Market, we then went to Bucovice Chateau that dates back to 1567.
First impression was...... Plain & huge!
The Italian style Renaissance Chateau was built with four wings and of course a central courtyard with a fountain. Inside the courtyard are 90 columns, decorated with relief carvings picturing battle scenes, coats of arms, fantasy animals and creatures, masks and musical instruments.
The fountain has sea sirens, dragons and other sculptures.
Two Italians who lived in Bohemia, carried out the stonework and another Italian designed the fountain. Outside, there is a renaissance garden, done in parterre style.
It is stated to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Monravia in its time. It has lots of valuable stucco works done by Italian Master's, and plenty of stucco decorations and wall paintings..
No photo's inside the rooms.
