It is a pity I can't tell you what the festival was for, but try as I have, I have not found an answer.
On reading about a festival at a nearby town, this one had some similarities.
At the market we came across people dressed in medevial clothing. I wondered why, and then when we arrived at the far end of the market, where the park was located, we saw many of the old fashioned canvas tents, and a lot more costumed people.
They had old fashioned rifle's, cross-bows, swords, musical instruments, cooking utensil's, infact, everything they had, related to one era.
I believe they camped there overnight, ready for the festival that Saturday.
Some of the women were cooking on the open fire, there were children and babies dressed for the era, and others were on Horse's.
I asked if I could take some photo's and they very happily obliged!
We found it particularly interesting, but couldn't stay for the whole day. If only I knew this was on, I would have allowed time. For me, this is one of the wonderful experiences in travel!
If anybody knows what it was called, please let me know. The date was ...Saturday 18th June.
I regard this as one of our "lucky" days on holiday!
