Schwibbögen can be found all year round, for example above the portals of two houses in Obere Schlossstraße, and there is an even bigger one acros Untere Schlossstraße. Around Christmas the windows of the houses will of course be full of them.

A famous and typical design shows two standing miners, a male woodcarver and a female maker of bobbin lace (photo 1). It represents the main sources of income in the Ore Mountains. This design was created in 1937(!) for Schwarzenberg by the artist Paula Jordan. The crossed swords are the crest of Meißen, the crossed hammers the symbol of the miners. Then there is an angel and a chandelier. This design has been repeated countless times and is available everywhere where Schwibbögen are on sale.
