Villa Giulia, Rome: 2 reviews and 5 photos
This was my favourite museum in Rome.
I love this relatively quiet museum in Rome.
It has wonderful surroundings on the edge of the Villa Borghese park and with easy access from Trams passing by. The courtyard of the museum is really beautiful and is worth lingering a while for itself.
I didn't really know a great deal about the Etruscans and so actually learnt a lot during my visit here. The collection is extrensive and I like the modern and sympathetic presentation of the artifacts.
The lack of crowds was quite a relief as so many other places in Rome are uncomfortably crowded. This museum also has great air-conditioning which is good on a hot summer day.
I'd recommend visiting this on a fairly lazy day mainly spent in the nearby park.
The only downside was that you aren't allowed to take photos inside the building, but nobody seemed to mind in the courtyard gardens.
