When we stood at the Markt we just didn't say anything and watched all around. The Markt is the heart of Tecklenburg and has an almost unbelievable romantic composition of half-timbered, colour washed houses with steep roofs and gables, perfectly preserved. It truly radiates the glory and warmth of its 400 years of history in an impressive way.

We did walk around over the square a bit and we had a good look at the 400 year old half-timbered houses, the Renaissance Town Hall and the fountain. We read in the brochure the following about it; "It mirrors the living poetry of the Middle Ages" and we couldn't have described it in a better way! But anyway, the Markt is the natural centre of Tecklenburg: a stage for various minor and major events, a reference point, a meeting place and the starting point or destination for walkers who want to discover the village and the Teutoburger Wald National Park. Historically speaking, the square began to operate in a shape and size similar to what we see today in the early years of the17th century.

Address: Markt, Tecklenburg.

: Directions: Right at the city center, you can?t miss it! :)
