"We mostly hung out at the more..." Clubs & Bars Tip by skipmor
Clubs & Bars, Brno: 26 reviews and 31 photos
We mostly hung out at the more 'alternative' bars and clubs, such as A Klub, Memphis, Kabinet Muz, Design Klub, and a dark and bizarre hole-in-the-wall known as Traubova. These clubs may not exist anymore, but surely others have sprung up in their place. There are discos to go to, if dancing is what you're looking for. For the real Czech experience, head to a pivnice (beer hall) which often feature red-checked tablecloths and an almost exclusively male clientele. Vinarny (wine bars) are also to be found; these tend to be more subdued. There is alcohol aplenty, of course, but most places will also have at least coffee, mineral water, and Coke. Brno has numerous cinemas (kino), which advertise on posters around the city so you know what's going on; it's fun to decipher the translated titles of American movies. There is also a lively theatre scene, art openings, concerts of classical and pop/rock music, dance performances, etc. These are reasonably priced and great even if you speak no Czech! (except theatre of course) So keep your eyes open!
