We guess that once you're in North Rhine-Westphalia you simply have to visit the village of Tecklenburg. The town itself is quite charming. It had a fairytale-like quality to it, almost like it was stuck in a time warp. Many of the houses in the pedestrian only zone have been around for hundreds of years. Just outside the city center of the town, which is situated on the western part of the Teutoburger Wald National Park, on the hillsides are some steep walking routes to enjoy. Walking through the bushes and climbing some stairs is very enjoyable. Very challenging to hike them indeed.

It's no wonder that "wanderlust" is a German word. In its original meaning, it describes a desire to roam, to wander. And where better than in the Teutoburger Wald National Park with classic pine forests, dense woods, lower mountains and stairs? The valley offers some of the most beautiful low mountain ranges with rivers, a wide variety of flowers and medieval castles, like the Burg Tecklenburg.

Address: Schlossstraße, 49545 Tecklenburg.
Directions: Just north western of the city center, follow the signs Burgtor.
