"Geneva" Switzerland Things to Do Tip by Maria81

Switzerland Things to Do: 774 reviews and 1,281 photos

Geneva was my first Swiss city, and also the base for exploring much of the country on the Swiss Pass during my first trip. That said, if you don't feel like travelling much, there's plenty in the city itself to keep you entertained:

- Sightseeing: the St. Pierre Cathedral (complete with Calvin's chair), lakeshore and the famous fountain, the Flower Clock, the Orthodox Church, Arsenal and the Old City, the Reformation Wall, UN, scores of museums, the Brunswick monument, Ile Rousseau

- Shopping: anything from flea market and antiques (the Protestant market is very colourful) to the luxury goods & jewellery stores - and everything in between

- Interesting neighbourhoods: from Carouges full of small stores to the scientific centre of CERN

- Special events: regardless of when you come, there's always something going on at Palexpo. The most popular is, of course, the Motor Show - taking place in early March each year.
