The Odense City Museum (Montergarden ) is a museum complex of different buildings that can show you several architectural styles in Odense from the late-medieval period to around 1900.
Pic 1 shows the main building at Overgade where we got into the museum.
Pic 2 shows the barn that is located at the inner yard, It was built in the mid 17th century as back premises to a merchant’s house in Nuborg. It has hatches instead of windows and a spacious mansard roof.
We were very tired to check most of them so we focused our visit to the main buildings of the museum, I liked the exhibition about Funen’s early history with interesting facts about daily life in the prehistoric period. Other parts in the museum focus on Middle Ages and Renaissance periods. The info signs are very useful which makes the visit more pleasant because in museums like that you don’t really get excited to check every tiny stone but it’s always interesting to know how people were using this stone…
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday 10.00-16.00
The entrance fee is 40DKK
