"AUGUSTINIAN HOUSE" Luhacovice Things to Do Tip by balhannah

Luhacovice Things to Do: 13 reviews and 32 photos

This is another beautiful Hotel I found in Luhacovice. It was also built in the years 1902 ? 1904.
Looks like these were the years that the Spa industry took off!

The architect of this house, used quarry stone and a combination of the neo-renaissance style of the main bulding, and a neo-classic style for the chapel. The house was built for the Augustian monastery in Brno, and was used as accommodation for priests and catholic families.
Adjoining the house, is the St. Thomas Chapel, built in neo-gothic style.

Saint Thomas is the patron of theologists, healer of the back pain and one can plead with him for a good marriage. Wonder if that worked!
He was also the patron of architects, builders, surveyors, carpenters, masons, stonemason's, and of Augustinian House. His symbol, the letters ST, can be found on several places of the facade.
There were more lovely frescoes on this building.
