Kufstein: a great stop-over in Tirol - Austria

Kufstein is a great place for a short stop-over, no matter if you travel through Austria by car or by train. Kufstein is a major train-hub at the border to Bavaria, and for that reason it will also be possible to travel there by the so-called Bayernticket.
My first 3 photos: Kufstein castle dates back to the year 1205 and it was built by the Bishop of Regensburg (in Bavaria). In 1504 Kaiser Maximilian I had conquered Kufstein castle and over the centuries the fortress was made bigger and stonger: you can still see a lot of cannons there, while walking around in the castle.

The Festung Kufstein is open for visitors:
From April 16th, 2011 till November 2nd, 2011
daily between 09.00am and 05.00pm
and
From November 3rd, 2011 till March 30th, 2012:
Daily between 10.00am and 04.00pm
entrancefee to the castle & all its museums is 9,90 Euros
Family-tickets for 2 adults and 2 children is 21,- Euros !

Römerhofgasse is a small street that no tourist should miss, you will find it below the castle and paralell to the river Inn. ! This tiny street was an important part of Kufstein's income during the 19th and 20th century, when Kufstein was a train-station at the border and everybody had to get out of the train and go through passport-controll. After the formalities all train-passengers were allowed to spend the remaining time in Kufstein, before the train would leave Kufstein again, and Roemerhofgasse was just about 300 meters from the station.
