"Around the central square" Jawor Things to Do Tip by GeoV
Jawor Things to Do: 11 reviews and 52 photos
Jawor is best known for its wooden 'Church of Peace' from the 1650s and is worth visiting for this alone. However, the centre of the town also merits some exploration. The central square, Rynek, although a substantial part has been rebuilt, retains many of the old arcaded buildings. In the centre is the imposing town hall from the 1890s, on the site of an earlier building of which a 16th century tower remains. There are old houses in some of the streets leading off Rynek, for instance ul. Chrobrego which has buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries, including and ornate Renaissance doorway at no.4.The parish church of St, Martin, a little way off the square, is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance with a Baroque interior.
