Le Passage Cairo Hotel & Casino, Cairo: 206 reviews and 6 photos
Because of an emergency closure at our start, we missed our connection in Cairo. The airport staff were extremely efficient and had already prepared new flight details and a voucher to stay the night at a hotel outside the airport. This required a visa, but in 5 minutes an entry visa was stamped on our passports. Then a bus took us to the hotel. The buses are supposed to come every twenty minutes but we had far longer to wait Then two buses came together.
I realised that I had stayed here before , again at airline expense.
We were registered and were taken to our room on the first floor. This was near the restaurant, which unfortunately meant the smell of food permeated the corridors.
The room had 3 single beds and en suite bathroom. There was a Tv and broadband connection.
A knock on the door , and a member of staff produced a face cloth, an extra towel and tubes of shower gel and body lotion, although the bathroom was already provided with everything. He would not go until I found some money to give him. Unfortunately this is still a common practice in Egypt.
We had vouchers for dinner and breakfast at the Orangerie. Tables are set out outside near the swimming pool, or inside. Dinner was a set buffet. There were numerous salads, chicken, beef or fish dishes and then a dessert table. Everything was good.
I was surprised to be handed a bill for £175 Egyptian, but was told it was just a formality for the records.
I think it looks a nice hotel to stay in with gym and other facilities.
Unique Qualities: The pool looks good but closes at 6pm, and opens about 8am.
Address: Cairo Int'l Airport Road, Heliopolis, (formerly Moevenpick Hotel Cairo), Cairo, 11361, Egypt
Comparison: more expensive than average
