The Cape York Hotel has very very basic accomodation and is mostly used by males from the bush.I would not recommend it to females as it is known to get a bit 'rough around the bar area'. The rooms are mainly shared, they are mediocre but are clean. The bathrooms are shared. They have single, double and twin rooms.
The bar has a real country pub feel about it and still has the original tiled smoking trough where smokers could throw their butts in.
The bar room has a pool table and a small pokies room off the main public area.
They also have live entertainment on Sundays in the Pandemonium Room.
Tables and chairs with a smoking area grace the footpath outside the pub.
So if you don't want anything fancy or you want to have a good time with the regulars/locals then check the pub out.
They also have a dining room with home cooked 'Pub Grub'.

Unique Qualities: Facilities are very basic but clean. The wide veranda upstairs is a relaxing place to sit after a hectic day and the bedrooms all have doors leading out to it.
The pool,BBQ and Jukebox are all in need of a makeover.
Plenty of parking. It is a very noisy hotel but the owner/manager Gayle Scowcroft welcomed me and showed me around and allowed me to take photo's.So even though I did not stay here I was able to chat with a couple of guests (all males) who did, they said "it is a good home away from home place to lay down and rest after having a good time" "All I have to do is crawl up the stairs and hit the sack""Good tucker""Gayle is terrific for an old girl"
