"Marienkirche: The Marienberg Window" Marienberg Things to Do Tip by Kathrin_E

Marienberg Things to Do: 17 reviews and 75 photos

The stained glass window in the choir behind the altar contains a vedoute of Marienberg. It shows the town under the rainbow and under the throne of Jesus Christ the Lord. On the left it shows a part of the town with the town hall, on the right there is the church and the orphanage.

On both sides the rainbow touches ground within the town - now how was that story about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow??

Back to business... This stained glass window is not as old as it may seem. The colourful windows were all added during the renovation of the church in 1896/97. Hence the window depicts the town as it was at the end of the 19th century. The central window with the portrait of the town is a donation of the local magistrate.
