Every September, usually during the last week of the month, the "Most Popular Fair On Earth" comes to town.
The fair runs from Sunday to Sunday, and is such a big deal that all the local schools are closed on the Monday of "fair week" so that everyone can go watch the parade in the morning and then spend the whole day at the fair!
Basically, this is a week long event at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds which features numerous exhibits, a lot of great fair food, some rides, some carny games, and a special event every night. The special events include things like tractor pulls, demolition derbies, and concerts.
As of 2011, entry into the fairgrounds is $4 for adults and $1 for children. Tickets to the "special events" cost extra as well.
The fairgrounds are located on Carleton Road/Broad Street/M-99, just south of the "downtown" area. You can either pay to park inside the fairgrounds, or park on a nearby side street such as Charles St. or Budlong St. for free.
There is also a smaller version of the fair during the week of the 4th of July, although that one does not feature nearly as much as the September fair.
