"Unbeatable shopping at NYC's Chinatown" Canal Street Tip by SOLODANCER

Canal Street, New York City: 17 reviews and 10 photos

  Crazy scene on Canal Street

If you come over to New York City with bargain shopping in mind (and there are many who do), then the one bargain place - and very possibly the best one of all - is Chinatown. No other place like it. But the best part of it too is that here one can combine one's visit to include practically everything from shopping to sightseeing to great gastronomical experience.

As far as shopping goes, Canal Street is the focal point of it all where you'd find the gamut of inexpensive merchandise: luggage, clothing and shoes, knock-off name-brand ladies' handbags, tee-shirts, jewellery and perfumes, electronics, even furniture and upwards to foodstuff as meats, seafood and household miscellanies.

When you've exhausted all of Canal Street, take the side streets of Mulberry, Mott, Elizabeth Streets and each singularly unique and fascinating short streets that traverse this great neighborhood. If you need to seriously shop, you need a whole day's worth here literally....and you'd never leave empty handed for sure!

A word of advice: acquire quick and hone your bargaining skill. You'd be a fool not to!
