Bäckerei Fischer: "Bakery with some Particularities" Augustusburg Restaurant Tip by Kathrin_E
Augustusburg Restaurants: 2 reviews and 6 photos
We had to walk up frum the train station because the funicular wasn't running, and after the steep ascent I was down and out. We needed a place for a rest and a coffee and a snack. This bakery was the first option we came across. Restaurants were not likely to be open yet on a Monday morning, so we stopped here. In theory this is just another bakery but in that moment it saved us, hence I owe them a grateful thought.
Favorite Dish: Looking round, we soon discovered their specialities, and a talk with the nice young lady behind the counter revealed more. First of all there is their Schlossbrot ("palace bread") which has the silhouette of the palace imprinted, and the dough is made from a special mix of wheat and rye flour.
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Untere Schlossstraße, about halfway up
Price: less than US$10
