At last we got to visit Sitia and it was well worth waiting for. On approach of the town it looks a bit like a mini Athens, all white buildings. In the town we drove round once or twice looking for accomodation. In the end we decided we would be better on the sea front and this is where we eventually stayed in a lovely hotel with fantastic sea views and a stones throw away from the beach. The town is traditionally greek although tourism is present it seemed to us to be that way. At night the local children were all out playing and the citizens were out for the saturday night Volta round the harbour and sea front, all greeting each other and chatting to old friends as they have done for century`s. The Tavernas were more traditional too and we had a lovely meal from Zorbas. Next morning I was up and bathing in the sea for 8am, but I was already beaten by some local yayas who were having a good old natter in the still warm waters---heaven!!
