In case that you travel through Tirol and you want to see some great, old rural architecture, make a stop-over in Kramsach, because I am sure you will enjoy the museum there !
In Kramsach you will find an interesting museum-village of old, tyrolean farmhouses that were taken from all parts of Tirol, including South-Tirol (that is a part of Italy nowadays). These houses were rebuilt again in groups like small villages and you can walk through and take a look inside the houses that are fully functional with all the furniture and machineries. There are partly farm-animals as well, so this museum is also a great place to visit for children !
In my last picture : Hochmuthmuehle, a mill dating back to 1821, with a giant construction of an artificial waterway that takes the water in a wooden "bridge" over several hundreds of meters before it will finally move the large wheel of the watermill. This same artificial waterway is used also by a small smithy in a short distance up the valley.
The Museum Tiroler Bauernhöfe is open for visitors :
from Palm-Sunday (=1 week before easter) till October 31st
daily from 09.00am till 06.00pm, last entry is at 05.00pm !
adults pay 5,50 euros
Familycard is 11,- for 2 adults and all their children !
Directions: Kramsach is a village between Kufstein and Innsbruck, leave the highway A1 in exit "Kramsach" and there you are. You need a car to get there !
