"Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard" Switzerland Transportation Tip by ant1606

Summer is the season to try riding the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard (or Colle del Gran San Bernardo) across Italy and Switzerland. Although it's not the highest pass in this section of the Alps, snowfall during summer months is not uncommon. Always check the forecasts and also be wary of possible thinderstorms. I was once caught up in a nasty one near the top at 2,470 m a.s.l.
This spectacular pass road goes above the homonym (hefty) toll tunnel and, unless one wants to spend 13.40 Euro (one-way motorcycle toll, or 22.80 Euro for a car) to save 5 Km and 10 minutes' worth of drive, I'd suggest to avoid the tunnel. Well, only in summer!

Type: Motorcycle
