Bad Fischau is another place in Austria, where you will be able to see some interesting architecture by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Bad Fischau is a small spa and also a restaurant on a carparking of the highway A2, south of Vienna. There once used to be an ugly restaurant and Friedensreich Hundertwasser was asked to decorate it a bit in his very own style. And that is what happened here: The ugly building with large windows and a lot of naked concrete dating back to the early 1950s looks nice and interesting all of a sudden thanks to Hundertwassers architecture.
In the basement of the restaurant you will find the restrooms and they are also a part of Hundertwasser's architecture. There are some funny ideas, colorfull tiles and even a puppet sitting in front of the toilet.
Hundertwasser created also his own german word for his kind of architecture : "behübschen", thats a word that did not exist before, although everybody understands it right away. Hübsch is "pretty" and behübschen is making something more pretty, more beautiful.
And of course Hundertwasser was not an architect, but a painter who had studied painting at the academy for only 3 months, before he left, finding his own style
The only way to get to this restaurant is by car on the highway A2 and unfortunately you will be able to get there ONLY when driving southwards from Vienna, so there is NO entrance to this place, when you are driving back to Vienna on that same highway.
