“From my favourite, to least favourite”
I've been to Ibiza 7 times now, and have always adored Mambo's.
I generally spend a fair bit of time there too, as well as money. Which is ironic considering it become evident on this years visit that Mambo's has now morphed into its mate, Pacha. They now only seem to care about you and your custom, if you have your bank balance superglued to your head, and the balance is hefty. No visable bank balance or a bank balance that doesn't suit their expectations for the kind of big-spending customer they want? no service, no smile, no hospitality. Obviously, most people don't walk around with a monetary value slapped to their forehead, so instead, it's evident that the staff from top to bottom at Cafe Mambo purely judge you on your appearance, and the size of your group. It's a shame really, because if you ever do get service from them (and it's pot luck whether it would be friendly service) it is THE best bar in San Antonio, regardless of the astronomical prices, you pay for the atmosphere and location.
To be abruptly/rudely told there's no reservations allowed, and then when you turn up later and rudely told again, you'll have a 30 minute wait for a table (and you specifically state you'll be having food, unlike a lot of people at sunset who are cuddling 1 small drink for a few hours, hogging a table) and then made to stand in a certain spot with a plastic cup of wine (for 8 euro) getting shoved and trampled on by passers by and moved around inch by inch by bouncers, for over TWO hours, is not good enough. And when you politely enquire where you're up to on 'the waiting list' during your 2+ hours wait, to be snarled at in response with no answer, like you're not allowed, nor are important enough, to ask, is just plain insulting. For the record Cafe Mambo, it was my birthday that night aswell - my partner had an unlimited budget, and we spent it at Villa Mercedes instead, after your rude female staff member fronting the shambles dismissed us one time too many, getting on for 2.5 hours of waiting for a table that was supposed to be a 30 min wait.
You'll have to change your attitude if you don;t want to be in danger of aliening your entire custom in time. Unless that's the idea?
