"Cebu - Lapulapu Monument / Shrine" Top 5 Page for this destination Lapu Lapu Monument Tip by suroyista

Lapu Lapu Monument, Cebu City: 12 reviews and 44 photos

Lapulapu Monument is one of the most popular trademarks of Cebu City. That's why I made sure to visit this spot before leaving the city. ;o)

In this very site, the fierce battle between Mactan island chieftain Lapulapu and Spanish navigator Ferdinand Magellan ensued, last April 17, 1521.

The monument serves as a reminder of the Filipino bravery as this where Magellan was defeated by the first Filipino hero, Lapulapu. Who wouldn't be proud of that?

The monument stand proud inside a very well-maintained shrine, with beautiful landscaping and water features. A series of souvenir stalls neatly tucked in one corner of the shrine. My husband and I had a great time inside the shrine.

Within the vicinity, there are native cottages offering fresh seafood with mangroves lining the shoreline as a backdrop. Prices of the food are a little expensive.

Address: Punta Engano, Lapulapu City
