"Hamburg Highflyer" Hamburg Things to Do Tip by Gillybob

The Hamburg Highflyer offers visitors to Hamburg the opportunity to take a 'flight' in a tethered hot air balloon to 150m above Hamburg.

The balloon is 23m in diameters and has a caged, circular 'basket' which allows visitors a full 360 degrees view over Hamburg.

Weather conditions at 200m determines whether the balloon can be operated or not with a further requirement that the balloon has a minimum visibility range of 5 km.

Opening times are daily 10:00am to 10:00pm, weather conditions permitting.

Unfortunately, high winds persuaded during my visit and I was not able to take a flight.

Directions: Head out of Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to the same direction as the shopping centre and turn left. Walk down Steintorwall and you will see the Hamburg Highflyer as you approach Deichtortunnel.
