The Woombye war memorial is in the form of a broken column with a laurel wreath and the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces Badge. A WWI plaque with the title 'They died that we may live' lists 21 names and another lists the names of 45 returned soldiers. That is a lot from a community that has today only 2,000 citizens. WWII plaques list 12 names killed in action, 10 Missing and 121 returned.

Other fields of combat include the Korean War 1950-1953, Vietnam War 1962-1972, Indonesian Confrontation 1962-1966, Malayan Emergency 1948-1960, Japan (British Commonwealth Occuping Forces) 1945-1954, Gulf War 1990-1991, Somalia 1992-1994, Peace Keeping 1947-present.

Established 25 April 1924.

As in all towns in Australia ANZAC Day services are held each 25th April at the war memorial.
