"WEST HOLLYWOOD" West Hollywood Tip by MM212
West Hollywood, Los Angeles: 5 reviews and 13 photos
In 1984, West Hollywood officially became its own city and separated itself from Los Angeles, much like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. The city has an irregular shape, so it is sometimes hard to know where the exact borders are, but it generally lies to the east of Beverly Hills and to the west of Hollywood. For all intents and purposes, however, West Hollywood is just another neighbourhood in the sprawling Los Angeles metropolis. It is also known for its gay life, particularly the area around Santa Monica Blvd, but it is not exclusively so. It also has great hotels, the best nightlife in LA (gay or straight), and some of its trendiest restaurants. For a visitor, I would recommend checking out the following:
1- Santa Monica Blvd for gay life;
2- Sunset Plaza and Melrose Place for shopping and restaurants;
3- Sunset Blvd for nightlife and hotels.
4- The Pacific Design Center (PDC), an architectural landmark by CÚsar Pelli.
