The foundations of the Church of the 40 Martyrs of Sebastea are about 12 km south-west of Strumica, somewhere in the fields near the village Bansko.

This church was form the 12th-13th century, but work on it also had been performed during the Ottoman period.

Near the church a necropolis was discovered originating from the 13th century.

We found the ruins with the help of a very friendly local, who also showed us the ruins of a Turkish Bath and an old mosque.
