Okusi Istre: "Don't miss The Tapas Bar!" Okusi Istre Tip by James_
Okusi Istre, Ljubljana: 1 reviews and 0 photos
Food: The food is typical coast-line (Istria) food, which is not very common and it's usually hard to get in Ljubljana or any other part of the country, since it's very specific for the Southern/SouthWest region.
There is a wide selection of fish and sea food dishes, cheese (I really loved cheese with truffles), olives, ham (especially dry ham) and other types of salami. Meat and vegeterian selection is a bit limited.
The quality of the food is very high - nothing is "mass produced" and it's based on some of the oldest and most typical local recipes.
Drinks: Here's the trick; They only have wine. Very broad selection - for all tastes. Ask the staff if you want something that goes particularly well with the food you ordered.
Ambience: The place itself is very small - it's a tapas bar, decorated in typical local style. There are very few tables inside, but there are more seats and tables outside; you can also order for take away.
Surroundings: It's just next to the Ljubljanica river and few steps away from Ljubljana castle and the old town. Very nice atmosphere.
Staff: Extremly friendly, chatty especially if there is not much crowd. Knowledgeable about their business and in general very aware of Slovenian food/wine culture and history.
Favorite Dish: All the seafood dishes are amazing! I've never tried anything like that before.
Address: Plecnikove Arkade, Ljubljana
Price Comparison: about average
Directions: It's just next to the main market in Ljubljana. Going across the bridge from Presernov Trg; turn left and continue to the market place; when you arrive it's on your left.
