"Postojnska Jama" Postojna Caves - Postojnska Jama Tip by joecooper

<b><font color=blue>Postojnska Jama</b></font>
The second largest system of caves in the entire world. They really will astound you. Some of the stalagmites and stalagtites have been formed over 4 million years! Each 1mm square of a formation takes 20 years to form. The largest is 18 metres high! They are also home to a strange creature known as 'The Human Fish' it is a small, blind, albino amphibian which can live without food for up to 6 months! The system is open to the public all year round and an elecric train will take you 4 km of the 5.7 km open to the public. Cameras are banned but you can use them anyway - the guides really don't care! In the evenings when it is dry there are sometimes concerts held in the largest cave - 48 meters high.
