Damhuis restaurant: "Not only elephants like amarula" Cape Town Restaurant Tip by magor65

On the day of our departure the weather was beautiful. We had a nice walk along the beach and took the last photographs of the Table Mountain. And then we did something we hardly ever do - within three hours we visited three restaurants / bars and everywhere we had something to eat or drink. The one I liked best was the Damhuis restaurant. It's definitely a place with nice laid-back ambience. Once a shed used to store fishing boats and nets, it has been restored and converted into a restaurant that wants to "preserve the historical importance for the future generations".

Favorite Dish: Because we had already eaten a meal in a previous place, here we decide to have a dessert. I took Creme Brule made with berries and served with other fruit. It was good. We also ordered amarula drink as we wanted to try this famous African liqueur. It's made from the fruit of African marula tree. On the label of the bottle you can see a picture of an elephant because these animals are said to like the fruit of the marula tree.
Amarula is sweet and creamy and tastes a bit like Bailey's Irish cream (my favourite).
