Outside of the cave trails, there are several neat surface trails as well. Two the originate near the historic entrance are the River Styx and Dixon Cave trails. I put them together, because you can really do them both as part of a larger loop trail. There is going to be elevation changes on these trails, and I would recommend doing the Dixon trail first, and coming back up the River Styx trail, because the elevation change seemed more gradual that way.

The Dixon cave trail passes through the forest and you will be treated to the sight of the cave about midway through the trail. Keep your eyes open for deer as well along the trail.

You then hit a fork in the trail, and if you loop to the left, you'll be walking along the Green River Bluffs trail, which will give you plenty of opportunities to see the Green River. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to see the River Styx spring where it emerges underground. Then, you get to head on back up the trail to the visitor center.

Following these paths, you'll end up doing about a 2 mile hike, and with the elevation changes, you'll also get a pretty good workout!
