If its authentic Tibetan food you are after whilst at Mussoorie, head straight for ‘The Rice Bowl’ in the Mall. Also called the ‘Amitash Restaurant’, it is located on the first floor of a building which shares space with ‘Café Coffee Day’ and ‘Domino’s’. Owned by Ms. Yangchen T. Lhatsang, it serves the most lip-smacking of Tibetan fare. The restaurant has been with the Lhatsang family since 1982. However, from December 1st week to March 1st week, the restaurant remains closed.

The dining space can hold approximately 30 guests at a time, with a few tables tucked away in an adjoining room next to the cash counter. The highly polished large pebbles that make up the wall add colour to the place. The waiters are knowledgeable, polite and unobtrusive. The owner herself is an ideal hostess who can advise you on the various types of Tibetan food.

Take a table near the window overlooking the Mall below. From your vantage point, you can take photographs to your heart’s content with nobody being the wiser. The food, the ambience, the location – all are perfect for that perfect meal and for that perfect holiday.
