Cockermouth Things to Do: 6 reviews and 21 photos
This is house is where William Wordsworth, a Romantic poet, grew up in alongside his sister, Dorothy, during the 18th Century.
Today, the visitor can visit most of the rooms in the house including the kitchen, the drawing room, the children's bedroom and so forth. It's also worth exploring back gardens where Wordsworth referred to in his poems.
One of our highlights was visiting the kitchen where we were able to sample some gingerbread which was similar to how it was made by Wordsworths' servants. There are demonstrations taking place in the house that replicates some of the life that might have happened during the 1770s.
In the cellars there is a video presentation of the floods that happened in 2009 where considerable damage was caused to the house as well as the town centre.
It cost 6.50 gbp for Adults (July 2011) but if you're a National Trust member you can visit for no extra cost.
