"Far from the Madding Crowd" Top 5 Page for this destination Pubs & Bars Tip by King_Golo

Yet another favourite pub of mine: Located conveniently in the city centre, "Far from the Madding Crowd" is still, well, far from the madding crowd of tourists. Nonetheless, it's a very nice place for a pint or two, and they have some of the best pub-made pizza in Oxford. The owners are very nice and there are some cosy couches on one side of the room and the regular tables and bar stools on the other.

The reason I like this pub very much is the "German Stammtisch" taking place there every second Thursday in term time. Teaching German in Oxford, this is my (and everybody else's) opportunity to get to know my students outside a classroom situation. Join us, if you speak German and are thirsty!
