  Tram at Karlovo Namesti

My favourite transportation vehicle in Prague is the tram. They run very frequently and the network is very tight. Very helpful are the tram line 9 (stop not far from the main train station) that runs via Vaclavske Namesti to the National Theatre and then crosses the river, and tram line 22 that runs from the southeastern districts of Prague via Karlovo Namesti to the National Theatre, crosses the river and then runs via Lesser Town (Mala Strana) up to the castle. A good stop to interchange between those lines is Narodni Trida.

The cars are quite old but nonetheless in relatively good shape. Don't expect A/C, though - in summer it can be *hot* inside. But as long as the locals can cope, tourists should as well, I think.

The picture shows a tram at Karlovo Namesti and the escalators going down to the Metro stop of the same name (yellow line). I chose the tram :-)
