  Eetcafé 't Gasthuys - Amsterdam
by pieter_jan_v

Eetcafé 't Gasthuys (named after the nearby former oldest Amsterdam hospital) is located at a less known canal, that many tourist will miss. Still its location is at the oldest part of the city (the south side of the defense ring) in the middle of the Amsterdam University and the Rokin souvenir shops. The building once was part of the tobacco industry (inspection and selection of the leaves).

The café is small, but you also can enjoy the canal at the adjacent terrace. Be aware there is nothing to stop you from falling into the canal.

The café was started by Dutch actor Piet Römer in 1977.

Lunches and diners are available.
