"Rickshaw Ride" Beijing Things to Do Tip by SabrinaSummerville

The best way to see the tiny, narrow, back streets of Beijing (and its historic hutongs) is in a rickshaw.

These days rickshaws are essentially three wheeled bicycles with a wide seat for up to two people.

I have heard warnings to be careful as some rickshaw cyclists will try to rip you off. However, we had no such problems.

There appear to be official type rickshaw stands (like American cab stands) at certain places in the city and here the "drivers" wear a uniform. We used one of these, from a stand near the Back Lake. The ride was terrific fun and we saw those narrow streets and a part of the city many tourists don't get to experience.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you how much it cost as we paid as a large group.
