"Crab Shack - Just across the Gandy Bridge-St Pete" Top 5 Page for this destination Tampa Restaurant Tip by Ewingjr98

The Crab Shack is a dump of a place in St. Pete, just across the Gandy Bridge from South Tampa. It looks like a good local seafood place, but it was pretty empty on a Wednesday night, and the food was average at best.

We started with the blue crab claws, fried in Butter & Garlic for $8. There were at least 20 great crab claws, already cracked open; this was the highlight of the meal. My dinner was the "Swamp Platter," a mix of frog legs, gator & catfish with spiced rice for about $15. The gator was really good, the frog legs were OK but maybe undercooked, and the catfish (cooked whole) was surprisingly bad, and I barely touched it. Laura had the blackened snapper, which she said was good.
