"Just Around the Riverbend..." Sighisoara Things to Do Tip by Jetgirly
Sighisoara Things to Do: 218 reviews and 529 photos
Sighisoara is cut in two by the Tārnava Mare River, with the historic fortified citadel on the south bank, and the train station to the north. The river begins in Romania's famed Carpathian mountains, and flows through a number of other towns including the important transit exchange Medias. I stayed to the north of the river so I had the pleasure of crossing it each day to explore the citadel. It is possible to walk along the river if you're looking to stretch your legs. There are a number of automobile and pedestrian bridges spanning the waters. It is worth noting that the river can bring out mosquitoes, especially around sunset, so you might want to bring repellant if you're planning to stay in town long.
Directions: Slightly north of the historic center.
