The Mansion house is a two storey building built from 1811 to 1826. It was built for Thomas Nicholson and his wife.
It was bought by the city of Leeds in 1871. Leeds city council leased the building out as a hotel and restaurant. This was a popular venue for weddings. [I attended a wedding here in 1987] until it?s closure in 2004.
Part of the building was reopened in 2007 as a visitor centre and offices for park staff.
