"Capuchin Convent" Altdorf Things to Do Tip by HORSCHECK
Altdorf Things to Do: 23 reviews and 54 photos
Altdorf is home to Switzerland's oldest Capuchin Convent (Kapuzinerkloster Allerheiligen).
It was built in 1581 and it was also the first Capuchin Convent north of the Alps.
The convent was completely destroyed during a fire in 1799; so the current structure dates back to 1806.
From the hillside of the Capuchin Convent panoramic views of Altdorf, the lake Urner See and the local mountains can be enjoyed from here.
The Capuchin Convent is located on the northern hillside of Altdorf. It can either be reached via a Way of the Cross from the Parish Church St. Martin or via the path Kapuzinerweg, which starts at the square Rathausplatz, just near the Tell Monument.
