Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center: "A place to lay your head in Denver" Denver Hotel Tip by pacific_sol

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center for several nights in March 2011 for a mini-getaway with friends. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes south of downtown Denver in an area dominated by office buildings, thus the "Tech Center" name I suppose. It is a business hotel but we did not actually see a lot of people in suits or anything. They had several groups using their meeting spaces - one day it was a medical devices convention or something, and the next day it was scrapbookers.
Our room was pretty typical for a Hilton Garden Inn. We had two double beds and I found them to be comfortable. Roomy bathroom with Neutrogena toiletries. We did have a problem with the plumbing but that was our fault and they fixed when we went out to dinner. Large desk for business travelers. There is also a way to send anything you need to print down to the business center. There is wi-fi but I did not use it. Closet was small but adequate. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in the room.
It is a business hotel, so they do have a business center with fax, printer, etc. There is also a gym on the first floor. They have a restaurant on the first floor, and they offer room service. There is also a small "pantry" off of the front desk where you can buy snacks or various other sundries - quite pricey of course. I didn't get a chance to try out these amenities, so I can't really offer any other comments on them.
There is ample free parking in their parking lot and while there were always lots of cars, we never had trouble finding parking. The streets in the area are a little annoying in that if you are in the slow lane/#3 lane, you often find that you're forced to turn right when you didn't mean to. We ended up at the Sheraton when we first tried to get to our hotel because of this, but our hotel was actually next door on the next block. From what we saw, it was all office buildings and hotels in the area - if you need to find a grocery or drug store, there isn't anything within walking distance.
Even though the hotel was not in the vicinity of downtown Denver, the room was a good base to explore Denver from - most of the sights we wanted to see were within a 30-45 minute drive away. We did run into some traffic during rush hour, both in the AM and PM, but it wasn't anything like the California traffic I am used to. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Denver.
Unique Qualities: Our room was facing west, so we had a great view of the Rockies, which were topped with snow.
