Taking Hwy 101 north into San Luis Obispo, all the offramps come up very quickly. If you are looking for the turnoff for Hwy 1, the Big Sur Scenic highway, it comes up right in the middle of town. Look for the green and white road signs. It will say "Morro Bay Hearst Castle north 1" with an arrow.

You will be making a sharp right turn off the freeway onto a residential street, Toro Street, before you again turn right onto Walnut Street. Look for the Green signs with writing in white. "1 Morro Bay Hearst Castle" and the arrow pointing the way.

Also note the blue and white signs. One is for gasoline stations ahead on Santa Rosa Street. This can be a long drive to Big Sur with limited gasoline. Fill up before you leave San Luis Obispo. There are several gas stations to stop at before you leave town.
