"Many international airlines..." Bulgaria Transportation Tip by radzio

Bulgaria Transportation: 97 reviews and 96 photos

Many international airlines fly to Sofia. Bulgaria's national airline Balkan Airlines has also connections to smaller Bulgarian cities and often offers very good fares for flights to Sofia and also Varna and Burgas (both via Sofia). The airport in Sofia has a new terminal and it's clean and user-friendly.
If you'd like to come by train there are connections with many major European cities (trains from Budapest arrive a few times a day so traveling via Hungary is a good idea).
I would not recomend comming by bus but it still is a rather cheap way to get to Bulgaria.
There are flights from Sofia to Varna nd Burgas on the Black Sea Coast- the routes are served by Balkan or Hemus Air.
Traveling by train is rather comfortable but the station names and most signs are usualy written in cyrilics.
Busses connect major cities and also go to smaller towns where ther is no train station. There are private bus companies that connect Sofia and the coast. It is best to buy your ticket in advance.
