"Puerto de la Cruz: Jardín Acuatico & Taoro Parque" Isla de Tenerife Things to Do Tip by King_Golo

High up on the hills of Puerto de la Cruz is Taoro Parque, a wonderful green oasis not too far away from the centre. The park is built on several terraces, each of which provides you with spectacular views over the roofs of the town. Nearby is Cafe Risco Bello (= pretty rock), a nice place to enjoy a mango juice amidst its numerous exotic plants. However, there is more to do: Next to the cafe is a tranquil blooming water garden. It was built in the 1970s when a Belgian bought the property to construct a garden in which his seriously ill wife could revive her spirits. His daughter still lives there - she's able to tell you about the history of the garden. The jardín acuatico itself looks quite run-down in some areas, and the ponds would look nicer if the algae were removed. But altogether it's a nice place to be. In case you're travelling with children: There are tame turtles living in some of the ponds.
The entry fee is 4 Euros for adults and 2 Euros for children.
Directions: Upper end of Carretera Taoro, next to the closed-down casino.
