"Promenade Shops" Passau Tourist Trap Tip by StayLonger

Passau Tourist Traps: 2 reviews and 1 photos

Just a reminder that some of the shops on the Promenade along the river sell "authentic" German items (everything from glass ornaments, dress hats, and lederhosen) -- make sure to take a closer look, as a good bit of the items you would expect to be made in Europe are actually imported from Asia.

If you feel the price and quality match, then that's ok, just be aware that those "traditional" German kneepants you see may have actually come from Asia.

Unique Suggestions: We all need to buy some trinkets to bring home -- just look at the label and make sure you're getting what you think you're getting.

Fun Alternatives: Head a little further into town, away from the Promenade, to visit some of the shops there, especially on the side streets. Same advice applies, but you'll have a better chance of finding something a little more authentic.
