The Millwheel is located behind St Peter's Graveyard and was originally used by the nearby bakery. It dates back to 1150 and it is said that the water that drives it was obtained when the monks tunnelled through the Moenschberg in the 12th century and channelled the water from the Koeniggsee by the Almkanal to Salzburg.

The wheel is still operational and is used these days to generate emergency electricity to parts of the city in times of need.

Address: Near the back entrance to St Petersfreidhof
