the rice museum is an excellent place to learn about the history of georgetown. rice production was an important part of georgetown's economy from colonial times to the outbreak of the civil war. next to the rice museum is georgetown's maritime museum which has an interesting collection of naval relics. the rice museum is located in the historic market building also known as the "town clock". for those interested in american history the rice museum is a very worth while stop in downtown georgetown.
